My Singing Monsters launched on the Steam game distribution platform on March 24th, 2021, and is currently only available for Windows. It is also verified on Steam Deck, and can be played via the Proton compatibility layer that comes installed with the Steam Deck. A similar method can be used to play the Steam version on Linux computers.
Though much of the gameplay of the Steam version is exactly the same as the Mobile version, you may occasionally see Steam-specific tab headers on wiki pages for elements that are related to the Steam version only, such as Friend Codes/Steam.
For additional support, you may wish to visit the Steam Community site. Several quotes on this page are taken verbatim from Monster-Handler posts there.

Cross-play[]
“ | My Singing Monsters on PC is a standalone experience; progress made on mobile does not carry over to the Steam version. Use your Monster expertise to rediscover your favorites and create your dream Islands! [...] There are no plans to allow players to carry over Mobile progress to the PC version of the game | ” |
— My Singing Monsters (Steam) FAQ |
There is no cross-play between the Steam version and the Mobile version of the game, meaning that you cannot log into your Mobile Account on Steam, and cannot log into your Steam Account on a Mobile device. Similarly, you cannot add a Friend using their Mobile Friend Code on Steam, nor can you add a Steam Friend Code on your Mobile device.
Differences from Mobile version[]
The Monster-Handlers aim to make the Steam version up-to-date with the Mobile version. However, being developed somewhat separately and being designed for desktop computers with generally more powerful hardware to take advantage of, the Steam version differs in some ways from the Mobile version.
Version[]
“ | With this update, we plan on keeping My Singing Monsters up to date with ongoing updates to the mobile version of the game! No matter where you play, you won't miss any exciting release! | ” |
— My Singing Monsters (Steam) 3.1 update announcement |
As of version 3.1 which released for Steam on April 28th, 2021, the game has version parity with the mobile version, and the Monster-Handlers intend to keep it that way. Version parity does not, however, mean feature parity;
Ads / Offer wall / third party platform integration[]
“ | The Steam platform does not support in-game advertisements from external sources. As such, this feature is not available in the PC version of the game. | ” |

“ | My Singing Monsters on Steam uses its own login and friend ID system; your Facebook login is used only for the mobile version of the game. | ” |
— My Singing Monsters (Steam) FAQ |
As the Steam platform disallows them, there are no ads, offer walls, or third party platform integrations in the Steam version of My Singing Monsters.
While this means that your gameplay will not be interrupted by ads, it also means you will miss out on the following in the Steam version:
- Speeding up Breeding, Incubating, or Baking by 15 minutes by watching ads
- Spinning the Spin Wheel a second time by watching a single ad
- Earning Diamonds, Coins or Treats by performing offers on the Offer Wall
Other differences[]
- The 'Breeding Guide' added as an 'info' button to the Breeding Structure since 2.3.5 on Mobile does not appear in the Steam version.
- The same occurs with the 'Attunement Guide' and the 'Synthesis Guide', although, Monster-Handler Matt mentioned in the 4.1 update showcase livestream that they intend on releasing it for Steam users in the future.
- The Steam version does not feature a Recording Studio structure.
- Because Steam and Mobile are run on different interface paradigms, the Options screen has some differences. The following are true for the Steam version, compared to the Mobile version:
- No 'Notifications' button; the Steam version does not feature notifications.
- No 'Delete Recordings' button; the Steam version does not have a Recording Studio.
- No 'Rate Game' button.
- An 'Exit Game' button was added which immediately exits the game.
- Various window resolution buttons were added.
- A 'Fullscreen' toggle was added.
- A 'Screen Size' button was added.
- Similarly, it was initially not possible to spin the Spin Wheel via a click-and-drag or touch screen swipe motion, and a dedicated spin button was added instead. They later added the functionality for spinning the Spin Wheel via a click-and-drag motion.
Alternatives for playing on a computer[]
Note: The Steam version of My Singing Monsters is optimized to run on Windows desktop computers, and will generally outperform these alternatives. Links are purposefully not provided. Note: These alternatives are not supported by Big Blue Bubble, Inc.
Because of some of the limitations of the Steam version, you may wonder if there is another way to play My Singing Monsters on a desktop / laptop computer.
If you have a Chromebook, you can install My Singing Monsters from the Play Store.
The Android version of My Singing Monsters can be played on Windows and Mac through an Android emulator such as BlueStacks or LDPlayer. With any emulator, you should do your own research on whether it is safe to use, how to install it, and how to get it running well. Doing so is outside the scope of this wiki.
The Android version of My Singing Monsters can also be played on Linux through Android-x86 or an emulator such as AVD or Genymotion. With any of these solutions, you should do your own research on whether it is safe to use, how to install it, and how to get it running well. As with the first option, doing so is outside the scope of this wiki.
Your operating system may also provide apps, or have apps available, that allow you to view and interact with an Android phone on your computer. The game will typically appear at a much lower quality as the phone's screen is 'streamed' to your computer as a video. On Windows 10, this is called 'Your Phone' with screen mirroring, or can be accomplished with AirDroid + AirMirror. While viewing an iPhone/iPad on a computer is possible, controlling it is severely limited by Apple, making this a less feasible method for those devices.
